"What happens if the VCR of a Cell is negative?"

First of all, what does it mean that a VCR is "negative"? It means that a Cell is spending more money than it is making- and that no other Cell is investing in it. If that were the case then money would be coming in and the VCR would not be negative.

This is part of the answer. If a Cell is working on something that motivates other Cells to invest, such as innovating a new product component, then its VCR will not be "negative" because money will come in from other Cells funding that innovation.

However, if this is not the case, and the Cell is actually spending more money than it is making - then this is a clear sign that something is wrong.

There are many possibilities what may not be good. Besides just being unlucky (which sometimes happens) the Cell:

• may be selling its services at too low a price
• or it may be trying to sell a service that is not attractive enough to potential customers
• or the Cell's costs may be too high
• or the velocity and output may not be high enough
• and there are many other possible problems

<aside> 💡 Obviously, this is not a sustainable situation to have, so identifying and solving the problems becomes the highest priority for the Cell.

If the Cell is not able to resolve the problem on their own in a short time, it is critical to seek support to recover from the situation.

Support can come from many directions - we can ask other Cells for support, we can open the conversation at a higher Flight Level, or we can bring in Coaches to help with our team dynamics and working methodology.
